i have a dell pc, and it has 512 mb. and an extra slot for another memory chip, or whatever you call. any i have another 128 ram chip from another computer but it's not a dell. anyway do you think it's safe to try to add that 2nd chip?

Dude, Put in that Second RAM card in and run your computer. If it shuts down for no reason then either your motherboard doesn't like it or the RAM is bad. If if does shut down just switch the slots around. I have 2 512 cards and They only work one way. If I switch them my comp crashes, It doesn't make sense but what ever. It works so I'm glad.
