Simple enough, if I try to open a saved .swf file it'll open up the prompt "What should Firefox do with this file?" menu. If I select the open option, it'll just open a new tab and give me the same prompt.
I've tried un/reinstalling Firefox and updating my flash player plugin. The files play fine in IE but won't work in FF. Is there any solution to this?
im having the same problem. it always worked fine in firefox up until a few days ago, i think it has something to do with the most recent update.

Sometimes Fx forgets how to handle files he usually opens. It's never permanent for me, though. Perhaps you could try editing his MIME types registry at preferences, content, file types. Never tried that, can't help.

1. delete swf from manage files
2. open a flash file (cannot be embedded, either one from your computer or from /f/ will work)
3. set one of the choices as default action
4. go back to manage and change it to use the plugin
5. ????
6. profit
