Cannot boot from CD

Im trying to get rid of Vista so i burnt myself a good ol' XP disc and booted from the cd - normal, right? but lo and behold i run right into a fukin BSOD as Windows has "encountered and error and, to prevent damage, has shutdown"  I am trying to format my fuking C: drive and i get this shit - how do i get around this?

Then get frustrated because you don't know shit about linux, goaround on /comp/ and every possible linux forum, whining about how linux supposedly sucks, finally get frustrated enough and throw it away.
