RAM upgrading

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-24 13:17

I'm thinking of upgrading my RAM as I love my PC gaming, but are there any other reasons I should be upgrading my RAM? Google is only giving me tutorials and small tidbits of information.  My friend also uses my computer alot for his artwork/college stuff,

I need as much information on RAM as possible, thanks

That only gives mostly tecnhical stuff, I suppose I should of been specific and said the actual POINT to upgrading RAM.

the actual POINT to upgrading RAM is that it gives you more RAM.

So your telling me that the only reason for me to give my computer more RAM is too simply give it more RAM?

how else do you expect to give it more RAM if you don't give it more RAM?

Analogy time!

Your computer is like a desk, where the desk surface is your RAM, the drawers on the side are the hard drive, and your hands are the CPU. Whenever you work with something (a program), you take it out of the drawer and put it on the desk (load from HD into RAM). Therefore, the more desk space (i.e. RAM) one has, the more can be worked with at one time, although you won't get everything done as fast as you would if you worked with less, as you only have a certain number of hands (CPU processing power).
