"Trasheraser"

Name: Anonymous 2007-11-01 21:26

A ordinary popup box - probably linking suckers to download whatever "Trasheraser" is - keeps bugging the  hell out of me.
And it's not just on "shady" sites this thing appears. And the bastard also disables any action taken inside firefox. So you're left with no choice but to just decline having it installed and just hope to never see it again.

So is my firewallfu just weak or something?

After you do >>3, also make an effort to learn what a firewall is and why thinking it had anything to do with your problem makes you a dumbass.

Also: Firewalls on Windows = worthless.

Also: Windows = worthless.

How true.  What a nublet.  Teh only reason i use windows is because I'm a gamer.  In actually wasting others' time with your moronic questions, you have become one of those suckers.  In the future, to avoid such humiliation, (after you remove whatever spyware is bringing up the popup with anti-spyware software which I'm SURE you don't currently have), try to not go to so many pornsites at work.  Good day, sir.  You lose.

Way to not have any idea what you're talking about. People like you are the cancer that is killing Linux.

Actually, I get some of OP's shit on my linux box. It's annoying.

Learn how Unix works before using it. Funny how distributions like Ubuntu are making the same mistake now that Microsoft has been making for many years now; enabling people to use a tool without knowing shit about it.

Would you drive a car without knowing shit about it? No? Maybe there's a reason why you need a driver's license in most sane countries.

To be fair, at least distros like Ubuntu aren't working with a fundamentally flawed security model. You can't completely protect a user from himself, but you can at least make sure that the vanilla system is pretty secure if said user doesn't go out of his way to break it, which is still far more than can be said of Windows.

Ignorant users are a very big problem, but catering to them isn't Microsoft's biggest sin. If anything, Apple is even worse about that, and the fact that there are so few Mac viruses or malware out there isn't just a result of MacOS's lower market share.
