/comp/ - Need halp, computer working like shit

Takes over 10 minutes on the startup screen to load, even if I set all programs not to load on startup. Then every once in a while, my computer would start lagging, and some processes (Firefox, Explorer.exe, MSN, etc.) will eat up all my CPU, and the only way to restore it was to restart (which again, takes a long time). Anti-Virus updated and not picking up anything, system restore not doing anything either.

Laptop broke down and I have nothing to backup my files to, but this computer has two hard drives, will it work if I transfer everything to my other hard drive and just format the one with the OS?

Spyware and shit runs undercover from most AV programs, try HijackThis if you want. Just dump your crap onto the other drive, and then reformat the main drive. As long as you use the same file type, probably NTFS, you'll be set.

Also, any binary file might also be compromised. Better just back up human readable files and dump the rest.
