Destroying CRTS

I have a ancient crt, and i want to make it into a fish tank. Can i drill a hole into it? will it explode? is their any tricks to opening it up?

>>3 is correct. CRTs don't explode, they implode if you structurally weaken them. The contain a near-vacuum (otherwise the electron beam will set things on fire). That's why the glass is so thick, to withstand air pressure.
