New Computer

Around late October I will be getting a new computer. I want to use it for gaming, editing movies, photo editing, whatever else.

I don't know much about computers though. I'll be getting my local computer guy to put it together and recommend some parts, but I would like to be able to take my general idea to them. I also don't want to get something that might be bad/useless. Eg. Wireless mice being worse than regular mice or how LCDs can be bad with ghosting etc.

So do you guys have any information you can give me on what I should get.

dual-core for sure. actually wait for the phenoms to come out THEN get a computer. it will be a quad-core. try for 2GB of RAM CORSAIR. if the mobo that your computer gets has 4 RAM slots, try 4x1GB RAM sticks.

dont even worry about the wireless mouse problem, they are MUCH better than a corded mouse. and LCD isnt bad with ghosting. i left my computer on for about 17 hours this past weekend on accident, and nothing really happened. but beware that your 'local' computer man may try to gyp you some money. look around first, like try tigerdirect.com and/or newegg.com

peace.
