buying a laptop

i have a beast of a desktop, (AMD X2 5600 2.8ghz, 4gigs PC6400 DDR2/800, Raid 0 500gig HD, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB) but im looking to buy a cheap laptop, a cheap new laptop, and i was wondering if i could find one off some rather unknown site for a laptop around 300-400 USD, as opposed to the cheapest laptops from dell and compaq, which are 500.

Where are you in the world? I'm assuming american as you don't think to mention otherwise.

Try any reputable custom PC site that lets you start with barebones, by doing this you can cut out all the unnecessary charges that Dell impose on their customers.

Otherwise, go for ebay.
