i was just curious to know if there was anyway possible to download a torrent without uploading...

Of course this is possible.  First piece (already mentioned) or no other leeches (you are the only one).  There are obvious and easy ways to cheat that do work, but speed really suffers unless conditions are just right.

Just seed already or GTFO.
