Sound Card issues

Name: Anonymous 2007-08-31 14:44 ID:M8j/22ja

The sound card works fine in everything but mic pickups. Everytime it records anything, it turns it into either a demon or a chipmunk type of voice if it works at all. Sometimes I reboot it and it works fine for a while then goes back to the weird fucked up voices.

Solutions I've tried: Switching the card to different PCI slots. reinstalled drivers, Installed newer drivers, installed older drivers. Messing around with all the settings in the program the drivers come with that have anything to do with mic's.

Nothing worked, thats why I'm here. Is the card defective?

I'm using XP Pro, the sound card is called BlueGears b-Enspirer.

Post the demon recordings for lulz.

Perhaps your mic is the problem, not the sound card.

If the mic isn't the problem, then sound cards are cheap.  Are you married to this sound card for any particular reason?

Just adding to the differential diagnosis:

Perhaps your voice is the problem. You probably do sound like a demon chipmunk and both your card and your mic are fine.

I have 2 mics, tested it on the other computer and it works.

The sound card came out to be 100 dollars, I don't really feel like waiting a week and a half for a problem I might be able to fix myself. Also, the sound is amazing when I play games or music. The only problem I have is the stupid fucking recording.

Sounds like you're recording at one sample rate and playing back at another.  Check that.

wait, what? I've changed to all the sample rates I was given, to see if that was it...44.1khz, 48khz, 96khz and 192khz. The sounds are different, but still not my voice. Maybe if I make demon voices it'll come out like mine. :>

Gotta go with >>5 if card and mic are good.

What card and recording app are you using btw?

I'm using Bluegears b.inspirer. The recording app is usually the WinXP recording application. It's not the app because I monitor the sound through the program it gives me, called c-media Oxygen HD. This program also has the "Demon" and "Chipmunk" voices you can use as a "magic" voice, but I have that turned off. So it might be the program. Are there any other programs I could use other than that?

If you've played with those settings before it could be they have fucked it. I know this used to happen with my old SB.

Uninstall the apps, drivers and delete the device. Restart and reinstall.
