My computer is a Presario 2500. Until the day before yesterday, I had only a quite small USB-HDD at 80 GB (an internal drive in a USB-casing.)
So I bought a Seagate FreeAgent 500 GB with 16 MB cache, installed the Seagate FreeAgent Launcher and everything was hunky dory. Until I decided to do some cleaning.
On the Seagate HDD there was some folders and some files that I put in a new folder called "FreeAgent-stuff". But now the HDD wouldn't turn off automatically when the computer is turned off, but shone brightly on. So I restored the folders and files to their original position. And rebooted the computer.
But now the connection to the Seagate HDD was random at best. I got some message that the drive needed to be connected to a quicker connection and there was some overwiev of a USB-hub with 4 (unused) ports. Quite amusing, beacuse the computer has only 3 USB-ports and I'm not using an hub.
And do note that during all these digital tantrums, my 80 GB-HDD worked flawlessly. (And yes, I've checked the connections of the Seagate-HDD.)
So please computer geek squad, help me solve the riddle of the lost USB-HDD!
