Monitor Problems

Name: Anonymous 2007-08-15 16:10 ID:XKFsejtc

My monitor is a bit too dark. It works fine with just about everything, but when I'm watching a video and the scene is a kind of dark, I can't see any of the details. Is this a physical problem with my monitor, or is there some way I can turn up the brightness?

note: I already tried turning up the brightness with the controls on the front. It makes the rest of the screen way to bright.

1. Adjust brightness AND contrast.  The brightness control looks like a tiny sun or star, and the contrast control looks like a half-moon.

2. If that doesn't get your results, you monitor (CRT?) might be getting old and requires a custom adjustment.  Try to get to the user settings for "color temperature".  Somewhere in there, you can set each Red, Green and Blue color guns ("gun" = fires a beam of electrons at the fluorescent face of the monitor) to maximum output.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks. It works great. I found the controls in the video driver menu.

I'm using a Dell P1230 CRT
