Ideas?

Any ideas on what to do with a pretty good laptop with no case? It's just a lcd screen and mother board. I was thinking of building a wooden case to mount everything and turn it into a wireless thin client for email,intenet,slideshows, and maybe a 200$ alarm clock

Building a wooden laptop case sounds fairly interesting and I can only urge you to document your effort for posting to the Internet.

Keep in mind that wood heats up and cools down fast.  The base case that actually contains the motherboard should be metal or plastic, with wood facing.

I can't think of any particular innovation.  I mean, laptops are built like books but turned 90°.  This structural base mimics what we use with other computers all the time (flat keyboard, with screen angled up behind it).

It would be fairly interesting to have TWO of the same screens, and that you could somehow wire them up back-to-back, so that you could face an audience and they can see exactly what you see with both you and they having a full screen experience:

... where "a" is a cover that protects the audience-facing screen, and "b" is the keyboard.
