Laptop HD in a desktop?

As subject suggests, is such a thing possible? I've got an HD that's in need of some repair, since the thing won't boot right now.
So to reiterate, is it possible to hook up a laptop HD to a desktop PC, and would I need a special PATA cable to do so?

You need an adaptor. If you've only got SATA ports, then you need an adaptor for that too.  Alternitively, just get a fucking 2.5" USB external enclosure.  Dick.
