Okay, when I insert a blank DVD into the drive, it turns into a CD-ROM drive. What happened? It worked fine before.

I've never had this happen personally, but it happened on my mom's computer. All I did to remedy it was use a dvd specific burning program ( in that case nero)and it came up as a dvd. I assume that windows just automatically thinks that a dvd is a 4.3gb cd-rom. If that doesn't work try installing/reinstalling the drivers for your dvd drive.

its no big deal. windows just labels it as a cd drive. but you can still burn/rip/use DVDs in it. its nothing to worry about
