OK here's the thing, I've just formated my hard drive and installed a "non-genuine" Windows XP, thing is, i can get a real copy for free but i'd like to know if it's worth the trouble, like is there anything i really need besides the .NET Framework 3.0 (which i needed for my GPU and am installing now)?

Wait wait, i should rephrase that, do I really "really" need anything Windows Genuine Advantage can give me?

Security updates don't check for genuine. However, I think bug fixes might need genuine, maybe not, but probably. Therefore probably not.

download your updates manually using a friend's or school's computer with legal key.

double click  the file to add to your registry and have wga whether you need it or not

I'm pretty sure that you need wga to get IE updates and windows media player

You can also download a genuine advantage validation crack that will allow you to get your windows updates.
