How can I find out how many SATA devices my computer can use at one time? I'm kind of an idiot at this, I don't even know how to look up what type of motherboard I have. Tutorial?
1. Count number of SATA ports. Store number to $x
2. Say out loud to self: "I can use $x SATA devices!"
3. Have a trusted friend steal your Ipod.
4. Become an hero.
Do not confuse RAID ports with standard SATA ports. Also, count free PCI slots and multiply by available SATA ports that come on purchasable PCI cards. Add to total.
Those are sata interface. It's one device per interface port, unlike PATA (IDE). like >>5 said you can also get PCI sata cards if you have free PCI slots.
