Ignoring Wireless Dongle's utility

Name: Anonymous 2007-07-15 13:18 ID:4aLUT/ux

I'm using a USB dongle for wireless LAN.
What I want to know is how to make Windows (XP) ignore the dongle's utility that starts at start up so I don't have to go to "Use Windows to configure wireless networks" every time i start the computer.

Remove the dongle's utility from startup (it'll either be in the Start Menu > Programs > Startup folder, or in the registry at HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run\). You may be able to just uninstall the utility by itself without removing the dongle's drivers.

you may also need to tell the "wireless network connection" to use the winxp wireless thing.

OP here.
forget it forget it.
i just uninstalled everything (drivers and utility couldn't be (un)installed individually), took the dongle out and put it back in, used the windows detected new device, put in the driver cd when it asked to and everything went smoothly, seems like XP just installed what it needed (the drivers).

anyway thanks a lot!
