Internet-problem

Name: Anonymous 2007-07-13 19:49 ID:x+ZJViIn

I've got a problem for you to solve. My internet doesn't work.

We use a router to get online, but lately (last 2 days or so) my computer can't seem to find the router. No networks found or nothing. Now, I know that the router works, since several other computers in the household (the one I'm on now included) does find the network, but 2 of our computers can't seem to find it.

Now, what can block a computer from finding a network? It's in range, since it's actually closer to the router than this computer (Router is maybe 2 meters away from this computer, through a wall. 1,5m for the not-working computer)

Also, no encryption on the router, although we do use a mac-filter (the computer is allowed through tho', and I disabled the mac-filter for a little while, and it still couldn't find it.)

Help plx.

You aren't smart enough to fix it, even with our instructions.

It may be your wireless adapter.  If any of the others are using a USB dongle, try to attach one of those to your computer.

There is a minimum range for wireless routeres, but it soudns like you should be good. I believe 1m is the minimum range.

The other pc with a internet problem is further away, so I doubt the minimum range is the problem.

If it was just the wireless adapter, I wonder why both computers lost the internet at the same time. Also, when I open the wireless card utility and search specifically for that network, I find it, but with no way to connect to it. It's when I search for a network to connect to that I can't find it.

Don't think we have any USB dongles I can try out...
