Fried Computer

Well, I fucked up and spilled some soda on my laptop. It was half a glass from a can. After spilling it, the keyboard started beeping like hell as I was cleaning it up, so I shut it down (the laptop, not the keyboard) and finished drying it off. Now it won't boot. When I hold down the power button, nothing happens. No flashing lights, no nothing.

My question to you, /comp/, is if theres any chance that my laptop may get better with time. Im wondering if, after the soda that i didn't get (the stuff that seeped into the actual computer) dries off, if there is any chance it'll boot up fine and let me resume my daily online rituals. I know the built-in keyboard is buggered, but I have a few spare external ones I can hook up.

The power button may well be connected to the keyboard controller, so that might be why it's not working.
You might want to disassemble the laptop and clean it as thoroughly as possible. I recommend using IPA (Isopropanole) for this, as it is great for cleaning all kinds of stuff. Please remove the battery before doing anything; it might be a good idea to remove the battery as soon as possible, as the laptop may still be getting standby power from it and strategically placed shorts on the PCB, although unlikely, could lead to nasty situations. The keyboard, however, is broken. The fluid crept into every small cavity and, when it dried, filled it with sirupy soft drink incredients. You'll definitely have to buy a new keyboard.
