Help with custom building a workstation

Just need some advice with some hardware for a work-centric desktop. I could really give two shits about gaming, just looking for something that can crunch a lot of numbers for a reasonable price. Will mostly be used for ArcGIS/Programming.

I'm not looking to overclock, since I'm looking for a stable and  consistent desktop to work on. I know all you overclock fags luv the C2D's for this, so would it even be worth the premium price of getting one? Any other info would be great!

Separate CPUs each have their own path to RAM.  Also, the individual cores in multi-core cpus also share various other sections of the cpu.  These are not shared in a multi-cpu situation, thereby increasing performance.
