Replacement PCB for maxtor drive?

Name: Anonymous 2007-06-27 15:34 ID:w+mlzMJ2

I recently fried my HD(note to self: don't touch power cables while computer is running).

Now it's all klicky klicky and isn't detected by anything. Anyhow it probably is the PCB that lost it's life, meaning that if i get the right pcb i can ressurect it. It's a Maxtor drive and the internets tell me i more or less just need to find a maxtor HD with the same PCBA code and swap the boards while ignoring all the other numbers and whatnot. Is this really the case or do i have to mind any other variables now before i start chasing retired maxtor drives?

Um, if it's "klicky klicky" that means something is fucked up with the mechanisms inside the drive, like a head crash.

A PCB swap will do nothing.
