Its possible you didn't format/install the update to your floppy correctly, or that your floppy is bad. Fsck it for bad sectors etc. Can you still boot? I thought that a failed BIOS flash would lead to a dud chip forcing you to replace it.

That's SSH.

Get an SSH client such as PuTTY and try to connect using that.

You will be prompted for a username and password.  Hope you know the person so you can guess likely passwords.  If not, a dictionary attack is needed.  If you're going to do a dictionary attack, you're on your own.
