rackmount your mom

hey /comp/, i really want to mount like four pc's and a couple of 1u routers on a rack, but i'm way too cheap to actually buy any of the obscenely priced cabinets i see online. has anyone ever heard of someone building their own rackmount setup? why should i not attempt to do this?
