I'm looking for video editing tools for Linux, preferably something with support for more types of video files than just raw camcorder files. Has anybody had success with something?

amazing what you find when you google "linux video editing"
protip: if you're serious about vid editing then get yourself a mac - if just messing around then http://lives.sourceforge.net/ should suffice

The first few searches I tried were all results of flaming shit. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise. I'm just looking to cut stuff out of stuff from onlinetvrecorder.com. Thanks for the link, looks promising.

Emulate XP on a virtual machine. Edit video on your XP.

yeah actually i do. i hate the comment that says "All REAL video production is done on mac". thats bullshit. 10 years ago, it was true. i work at an nbc studio. in this particular division, we use cinellera on linux. the last job(which got contracts from cbs, espn, nasa, etc) i was at, used premiere and after effects on windows. and fwiw, PIXAR uses cinelerra on linux.
