Did i waste my money

these are fairly cheap mind you

i bought a Ram cooling fan that clips onto the end of each ram slot and cools the fan with 2 small silent fans
its a named brand one, thermaltake i think

will this help performance?

it was cheap, like 10 bucks

Think of it like insurance..

Without the fan, there's a slightly greater chance your RAM will fail and you have to buy more of it.  But the fan costs like 10% or so the total cost of the RAM.
