S3 did make a sort of comeback with the S25 and S27 cards. You could do real gaming on the S27, it had 8pps, 700MHz GPU, and GDDR2 VRAM. And great performance per watt. Then of course, the GeForce 7600/7300 cards came out and everyone immediately forgot about the whole thing.
