Got a stuck blue pixel on my MacBook, I have tried doing what you said and while it disappears for like a week it always comes back.. probably due to the slight pressures of the laptop moving around flexing the LCD back so that the pixel reappears.
I guess it's an okay solution for some though. Didn't really work for me and now I don't bother with trying to fix it every few days
