Networks, Switches and Routers

I have the internets and connected to the internets in my router and out of one of the ethernet ports, is an etherner cable. If I wanted to use an Xbox 360 and my computer at the same time, would I use a switch or router?

switches connect computers into networks, routers connect networks.

you use a router (with nat) to connect your home lan to the internet. home routers usually have a switch built-in (if they have multiple lan ports). if you have no free lan ports on your router, then you need to hook up another switch (or a hub) to it.
