Internet connect help

Need help with my internet connection, I reformatted my other computer and some reason it does not automatically detect my internet settings. I'm on Optimum cable with a linksys router. Any one have any clue?

did you reinstall all the drivers?  does your system recognize your nic card?  If so, check to see if you can connect to your router (usually http://192.168.1.1) and check the routers settings to see if you had the router set for static ips and reconfigure your system for static ips.
