What should I put in my Slot 1?

Currently I have a wonderful Pentium II at 333 MHz, it's really cool, and allows me to run it fanless (I'm waiting for a new 5600 RPM 2.5" HD, which will hopefully make my case completely silent -- the PSU fan is already silent, and I stripped everything else out) -- what could I replace it with?  Should I replace it?

I don't know what you should put in your slot 1, but i put my cock in your moms slot 2 last night.

You haven't mentioned what you're going to use it for, or why you're trying to run older hardware silently.

I was running silent/fanless Slot-1 PIIs last year in some extra machines that were just lying around, mostly PII-450 @ 450 w/512 MB PC-100 RAM running W2K, O2K, and Firefox on a few 5400 RPM 3.5" HDs in old Compaq cases.  They were very responsive and stable, even under high load.  Definitely good enough for anything other than running all those trendy trojans, resource-intensive production apps, or 3D games (except ePSXe and CVGS, which both worked great).  If your chipset/mobo supports it, you could even install an underclocked Slot-1 Coppermine PIII with a large heatsink and no fan.  I had a PIII-600 in one of these setups for a while, before taking it out and using it in something else.  No temperature problems, so you might even be able to go faster.

Well, just general serving of things (uptime specifically), perhaps some torrenting now that I've got an acceptably large HD for it.

I'm afraid I have the earlier kind of Slot 1 that doesn't fit Pentium 3s and some Pentium 2s as well ;)

Thanks for the info though, I now feel confident that anything'll do that I can brutally shove through the slot.
