We recently got a new cable modem (Surfboard SB5100E). Prior to this, we had to "dial up" to the ISP to get a connection. Every time we performed this dialing, our IP would change. Ever since we got a connection that is made as soon as Windows is booted, our IP has become static. Does this mean that my modem is unable of getting a new IP assigned to it (whether it be disabled or just imposssible), or did my shitty ISP lock my IP? If it's simply a setting for the modem, can we change this?
