So, 2 gigabux of ram is the first amendment to this rig. Also, a 600w psu is a better idea. I'll admit, I thought those two points were overkill. Hell, I thought the whole thing was- but I do want to build a fairly hefty gaming rig. It completely bites ass going from looking at my mate's 360 on a big LG LCD to trying to run Oblivion on my PC and watching a slideshow. I can run Oblivion acceptably on lower settings, but (visually) it pretty much chews major dong. Big fat pixels everywhere, and no nice lush forests/grass. And yes, I do know that Oblivion is a fine example of shitty coding. Other games look as good, if not better, at a fraction of the (system build) cost. I want all games to look good and run well, now and in the not too distant future.
Advice on CPU cooling would be much appreciated. I figure I'll go with a fan/heatsink as opposed to LCS. Any suggested brands?
Also, I'm not rich by any means. If I do this, it'll bust me back to square one financially. Which is why I'd like to either do it right, or not at all.
PS: My only concession to Ricing is that I cut a Brotherhood of Steel ensignia out of reflective black vinyl and stuck it on the side of my stock Lian Li in 2004 - which I still use today, despite the fact that I have a new(ish) black Antec P180 lying around.
