Networking question

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-27 14:37 ID:KmlrB4Xk

I'm going to create a small network, but 2 other people I know wants to have access to it from their laptops when they are out of town.

What kind of software and hardware would I need to be able to arrange this if they use modems?

I'm sorry if this question sounds a bit stupid, but I'm a self-learner (learning as I go), so I'm not quite sure how I should approach this without making any slip-ups.

Any help at all would be very appriciated.

Share your files with a HTTP server, this way they can access it from Opera!

VPN!
1. Your router might support it (lucky!)
2. You might be running a computer with Windows 2000/2003 (lucky!)
3. You might be running a computer with Linux of some sort (lucky!, but I don't know how hard it is to set up)
4. Else: Crap...

Do you simply want to enable file-sharing? If so, just set up an FTP server. Otherwise, a VPN is the way to go. Just download Hamachi (runs on Windows and Mac, and I think Linux now) -- http://hamachi.cc

Opera is sort of like... feces. It belongs in the toilet or the trash and nowhere else- especially NOT a computer.
