Cheaper Cable

I was wondering if anyone knew of cable internet about as good, if not better than comcast that costs less. My father is talking about switching to DSL and I'd like to avoid it if possible.

Only thing on par or faster would be Fios (15mb down 49.99).

DSL depending on the service could range from

768kbps down (at&t yahoo 14.95 a month)
1.5mb down  (19.99)
3.0mb  down (24.99)
6.0mb down   (34.99)


I think cable is like 6.0mb down
