Running win2k on a dual core?

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-20 15:50

I'll be upgrading soon. My machine is 4 yrs old now, and I'm running win2k. I hate xp and I have a feeling I won't like Vista much better.
The question is, is there a point in using 2k on a new machine? Will there be compatibility issues, or will resources get wasted because of an obsolete system?
In other words, I'm completely satisfied with 2k, will I have to change it?

"What is wrong with Win2k3? I've been running it for a year and a half without problems"

That's the exact problem with it - From Microsoft's viewpoint.

Kind of hard to maintain an upgrade treadmill when they release good stuff. Windows 2000 was too close to good for their comfort.
