Hot GPU? :(

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-18 14:44

Hey guys, I just bought this card and figured it might be defective(Stock fan sucking). I play WoW and it goes to 60ºC at first, then later on it goes to 70 and sometimes hits 80. Is this normal? I have a 7950GT. I use PC Wizard to monitor the temp, and it also says "GPU Fan 17%". I'm not sure if thats how much of the fan usage is currently being used or what, because it stays at that speed even under massive graphical loads.

Or, better yet, can I just increase my fan speed manually? I really don't feel like RMA'ing this thing.

Just blow your load on the card itself and it will cool down within minutes and lasts for about an hour or two. Seriously though, this is a trade secret used by many of the hardcore over clockers (seen in the private sections of the [H]ard forums). The various materials forming the seminal plasma allows fairly rapid dispersion of heat over a larger surface area while it is in the clotting process. The effectiveness of the heat dispersion will decline as the liquefaction process takes place. It will take about 30 minutes to an hour for the plasma to start solidifying once the liquefaction process is reached. Just scrape off the remains once solidification has started and re apply every few hours.
