Bittorrent eats my networking

Name: Anonymous 2007-01-13 3:50

I've got a weird problem that happens when i'm running bit torrent. I've had this same problem with both uTorrent and Azureus.

What happens is I open BT, and even if the thing is only getting a speed of 10kbps, all the other computer's internet is extreamly slow. Dial up slow, and this is a comcast connection.
But my system, which the bit torrent is running off of, at first doesn't have any problem.
Let an hour or two pass, and my system has the exact same problem.
I monitor the total net inbound and outbound for each system, and it doesn't top 30kbps(got it limited to that amount). But on a connection that, without bit torrent running, I get speeds of around 1-2mbps, this doesn't make sense.

All the computers are connected wirelessly using linksys WRTG54, and it's about 4-6 computers on at once, only one using bit torrent.

What the fuck is going on here?
It seems like at first the router makes a preference to one system, then after time it makes a preference for bit torrent, and just kills all the other net connections.

And closing bit torrent returns everything to normal almost right away.

WRT54G has a known problem with torrents due to the high traffic. Install DD-WRT and all your problems will be gone. Where to get DD-WRT? Google.
