any program to lower temperature?

Name: cranger 2007-01-12 17:45

hi, is there any program i can download that would somehow lower my CPU or graphics card temperature? im on a laptop, and allready have a cooling mat, but when im playing WoW, the performance may degrade at times or shut off.

Try installing and playing Ultima Online instead of WoW.  WoW has a known problem of sending far too many 'hot' polygons to the graphics card, causing it to heat up faster.  UO does not have this issue since it only sends out 'cool' polygons.

i loled but really no you cant make your com do more things to cool it off you could consider running WoW with lowered graphics and/or under clocking your g-card and processor

Yes you can. If your CPU supports frequency scaling, you can lock it at a lower frequency using a utility like SpeedSwitchXP.

As for the card, it's possible to lower the GPU frequency using overclocking utilities for your graphics card.

But, you should be aware that under-clocking your CPU or GPU will cause it to be greatly slower.

the only other way to lower temperature is to use better cooling techniques.

Sure! You use fucking google! You go to www.google.com and enter search query inside! It is simple! This way you are stop sucking ass and ask stupid questions! OK! You are good now! Go to www.google.com you stupid faggot!

Actually there is a much easier way to cool off your CPU. The changes in temperature are very noticeable. Restart your computer and boot using a linux live-cd. Then, find the directory names "system32" and delete it. Then restart once more.

http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml I use this application to control CPU speed (and thus temperature) as my laptop has overheating problems sometimes.

In my experience most apps for cooling do so by cutting back on intensity allotted to apps. If that's the case wouldn't the game suffer?

I doubt a laptop is the best choice for gaming anyway, a tower allows so much more specific cooling options. I bought a huge serve case and wired my own electrical harness to power $300.00 of Papst fans on my first dualie.

Lol. Okay, you aren't to blame for now knowing why, how and when heat is produced. But you are to blame for not realizing if such a way to magically lower temperatures existed, it would be built-in in the OS, especially when people spend good money on fans and heatsinks. The OS already does what it can, which is to not waste CPU cycles when idle. For everything else, there's Mastercard to buy a better case, fans, etc.

If you want to have more ram, try http://free.hostultra.com/~downloadmoreram/index.html

"hi, is there a program I can download that will make my internet connection faster?

www.opera.com";

It ran a hell of a lot faster when it still fit on a floppy.

Even back then it had a window asking if you wanted to restore your pages after Opera crashed. Now years later that same window still has a check box to indicate you don't want to be asked that question again. It still appears after each crash and Opera still crashes as often as ever.
Hell, I use Opera but it's still a PITA!
