XP install hangs

Name: Anonymous 2006-12-31 15:07

So, /comp/, I have the infamous XP hang at "setup is starting Windows" during install.  I just RMA'd the board for an EPox EP-M570SLI, AMD 64 X2 4200+ 65W, 2 gig Corsair DDR2800, Thermaltake 700W Toughpower, Seagate SATA 250 gig, Foxconn 7950GT, XP x64 Pro.  Put the latest nForce RAID drivers on a USB floppy, turned off everything unnecessary, the RAM is on pass 3 of Memtest 86+ right now with no errors, the board shipped with the latest version of the BIOS, and XP install still hangs.  If I don't load the RAID drivers, I get a BSOD instead of a hang, and Googling the stop code does nothing.  Should I RMA the CPU?  Anything else I can do?

Pull every thing off your mobo apart from what you need to get it going.
i.e Ram, Graphics card( if you have an on board. ) If it POSTS and starts install let it install what it needs.  If you have no luck id say you got a crappy copy of Windows or some mad driver conflict.
Slowly add everything until you get your hang. If and when you do at least your norrowing down your choices of whats causing it.
