Video card installation issues

Alright, i got me a visiontek AGP8x radeon X1300. (don't even say "shit sucks", well aware).

IT REFUSES TO FUCKING WORK!

before this i used onboard video. i RTFMd, and followed iot to the letter (disable onboard in device manager, put card in, connect monitor to card, install shit from cd).


problem is, it simply won't work.  i have a 4 pin power going to the card, the onboard doesn't work while the card is in there, but the card doesn't work either.

one thins, is that i have a vga monitor and the card has DVI outputs. they included a converter, and i'm using it, but, like i said, didn't work.

the motherboard is an elitegroup p4m800proM.


any helps is appreciated. i think i might call their help line or something.

can you still return it? You should really get an Nvidia card, even if it's "not as good" at least it works and believe me it will be a hell of a lot less trouble.

The Radeon 9800 Pro is the best video card there ever was IMO - but one product does not a good company make. It is not worth using an X1300

i'm not interested in driving 20 miles again. i don't particularly need a super good quality thing, like i mentioned.  if this thing is actually, broken, yes, i will return it, but depending on what they give me (replacement or cash, as i bought it with mostly gift cards).

Get yourself a GeForce 6800 NU (which you unlock and overclock (all software) to a 6800 GT), or, if low on budget, get a 6600 GT. But stay with nVidia because of the drivers; Catalyst Crap Center alone makes nVidia worth it.

Alright, if i take a geo metro to a mechanic to fix the transmission, and he tells me to go out an buy a mercedes because the geo is a piece of crap, do you really think i care?  i'm well aware this isn't that great a card.

i just...want to make it work...if it's actually broken, i'll go back and see if i can refund/replace it.

if you paid $46,000 for the Geo Metro, can still return it to the dealer to swap for the Benz, and don't do that, that would make you a dumbshit
