So I use an ancient 4-gig iPod, and every once in awhile there will be a song that just does not play.  It plays normal on iTunes, it doesn't have abnormal tagging or read-only status, but when put onto the iPod it will just skip itself.

Another thing I noticed with songs, all the ones I had by Screamin' Jay Hawkins, is that they replicated themselves so that even if the names were exactly the same, there would be Screamin' Jay Hawkins artist songlists, all with the exact same songs in them.

Creepin' me out, man.

Sounds weird. The file might be corrupt, I would suggest testing out what happens if you 1. convert the song to another format in itunes or 2. delete and re-add to the library. Transcoding might be your only choice.

Also make sure it's not mp2 or anything, iPods don't play that and occasionally they sneak into your library
