Ubuntu

Ok.. So I just installed ubuntu after using kubuntu for around a year on and off, everything was going slick until I went into device manager and saw my nic wasnt recognized, and that there were no drivers for it available because it was so old. (It worked fine in kubuntu though, without me doing anything to it) Anyways, I figured the easiest way to get online so I could tinker with the nic would be to use my WG111 V2 Wireless thumbdrive, so I plugged it in, and it's recognized in device manager, and in network setting it shows up as wireless connection, so I put in the SSID and left the passkey blank (I removed encryption on the router to make things easier, it's a WRT54g btw) and when I hit ok, it won't connect, I tried using static dhcp, no go, so I ran dhclient and it says no dhcp offers recieved. What horribly noobish thing have I done wrong? :(

Not using a custom kernel.

Shit, you could even use the kernel you were using with Kubuntu, if you still have it.

Boot off kubuntu live cd, do "sudo lsmod" and see what magic shit if making your nic work. figure it out from there...
