Video Convertion

Hi i has lots of anime around 150-200mb, want to re-encode to about 60-80mb, keeping good quality, however the quality can suffer a bit since im watching from like 3 meters away, and im willing to sacrifice sum quality to get smaller sizes. The x264 codec with single pass quanization at 30 and all other options on default does a pretty good job at it actually, but i find the quality too be just a bit too low, so i was wondering if anyone can help me out here, keeping the filesize small but just increasing quality , esp in dark/light areas and soft shadow/volumetrics n such. Anything?

Most anime encoded by today's groups is already minimized - the only recent change has been the adoption of x264 which allows some further scaling down without loss of quality - but that's from original raws - scaling from an avi to x264 will lose you some detail whatever you do.  Any further compression is pretty much a tradeoff against quality.  Bottom line - you want 60-80Mb episodes, you'll have to put up with crap quality.
