New computer.

So my new computer came. It's amazing to look at, in general. nVidia GeForce 8800 gtx gfx card, 20 in. monitor, etc. etc... However, after my friend and I set it up and started it up (not expecting anything at all to work) we were glad to see all of the fans turn on, all of the lights light up, everything seemed normal. There was not a single malfunctioning fan on the first boot.

Now here's the problem, we got a message on the monitor saying that it couldn't find a video input. We toyed with the input but with no avail. After about 5 hours of toying around with reconnecting different wires and whatnot, we still couldn't get it. So we decided to call it a day and everything is still the way it was where all the fans turn on and whatnot, but we still can't get any video input. My friend is convinced it's the RAM but I don't think so because I've never been given any trouble with RAM and even then the computer would at least boot up and say that the RAM stick isn't working.

Mind you, this is booting from a clean hard drive with absolutely nothing on it, the exact specs of my computer can be seen here --> http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=4335206

Please help, I'm in desperate need of a new computer and any information regarding the computer can be provided.

Do you have a camera?  Can you post pics of the error message, and exactly how everything is wired?

It's not the RAM, that's unrelated.  From what it sounds like, the monitor is just saying that the video card isn't sending it any data.  Do you have another video card, preferably regular PCI?  If you do, try that and see if there's any CMOS settings you need to change.  How confident are you that you installed the CPU correctly?  Is the CPU even in the machine (it won't do shit besides spin fans if it isn't)?

The error message is just a standard one that the monitor gives saying that it's not recieving input, nothing out of the ordinary (and I doubt I'd be able to snap a picture of it before it dissappears).
The only regular PCI one I have is the shit one I have from like 6 years ago that I (for some reason) saved. I could try that I guess...
I'm rather confident that I have the CPU installed correctly, the triangles are matching and whatnot, heatsink is installed on top of that.

does the fan of the video card turn on?
have you tried another VGA/DVI cable?

Yes and yes, all of the fans are functional and it seems like everything is working fine, but it says that we have no video input. I've even tried using a D-sub to get it working, but still no luck.

Oh crap you're totally right.
I'm gonna RMA this one and get one that supports dual-core. Thanks, anonymous.
