"The file or directory \WINDOWS\Prefetch\SERVICES.EXE-2F433351.pf is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility."

I haven't turned on my tower in a few days so last night I decided to boot it up to grab some stuff I needed. I logged on and everything was fine, until I tried to watch a video, then the monitor gave me a no signal, then shut off. I grabbed a pen and jabbed the restart button and went through the computer check. As soon as it got to the log on section, the monitor went off again. I gave up and just shut it off. Today, I tried again and skipped the comp check. When I got to the log on screen, the above (subject line) greeted me. I clicked okay and it came up again. I clicked okay yet again and the monitor gave me the no signal and offed itself. I can't even get past the log-in screen.

I tried rebooting in safemode and it froze, while the drivers scrolled down the screen.

I was instructed to dl microsoft boot drive (since I do not have the xp disc), but I don't have another computer with a floppy drive (I'm on a laptop).  My irl friends suck so none of them even own a computer that I could ask them to do it for me.

Recently, I've also received this message with a countdown to blackout: "Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator."

I'm rather confused, annoyed, and saddened (if I lose all of my shit).  Is there anything I can do?

Start in safe mode and log in as administrator. Rename your old user profile, reboot and when you log in again a new one will be created. You can then copy your stuff from the old profile folder to the new one.

It won't even let me get that far anymore.  Now when I hit f8 when it starts up, it gives me different text and two options.  press f9 to change something and press f1 to continue.  f9 proceeds to freeze it.

Run a repair install. You won't lose your programs or files, and nine times out of ten it fixes glitches like these.

How would I do that without the xp disc?

Download one.

Do >>4, then stop using Internet Explorer.

Download from where? Sorry, I'm borderline retarded when it comes to these things.

Also, I don't use IE.
