Resolution/Refresh Rate Relation

Name: Anonymous 2006-11-19 20:49

I read the refresh rate that was recently posted on here and wanted to know how to appropriately match resolution and refresh rate. Specs:

19" @ 1152x864, 60hz
.21mm Horiz DP
.25mm Diag DP

Text is pretty pixelated (best description) and changing the refresh rate just makes it worse.

what?
just set the refresh rate in the properties of you monitor

see here -> http://www.mysuperpc.com/vcu/refresh_rate_problem_1.gif
and if you got problems use the nvidia refresh rate overwrite option

(for ATI google yourself)

do you have a LCD or CRT?
LCD only goes up to 75

i forgot to mention, refresh rate and resolution are two different things, there is NO relation

just look up what your monitor supports

Yup, there's no formula used or anything, you either got it or you don't got it.

Google your monitor and find your settings.

Uuuhhh...

For TFTs, do what the manual says and pray it doesn't look like ass. Want a different resolution than "piss tiny"? Get a CRT. For real monitors:

Horizontal_frequency / Vertical_frequency = Vertical_lines + ~32

If you have a 69 KHz monitor, and want 85 Hz, you can do up to ~768 or 776 lines. Horizontal resolution is analog, so you don't care, but don't surpass the maximum bandwidth (and less than the dot pitch is useless). Bah, 1536×768 will probably work fine, but it's not 4:3, so only useful for games that are properly written. If you want 4:3, H = V * 4 / 3 .
