I may have killed a power supply :(

Name: Tricadex 2006-11-13 20:07

Dear /comp/,

I just got a new power supply off newegg, I put it in and (I thought) hooked all the power outputs to their respective plugs. I hit the power button, the fans spin but no boot. I check all the plugs and try again, still no boot (I missed a secondary plug on my mobo, but I didn't know this at the time). I check the red switch on the power supply, it's set to 115, but, being an idiot, I didn't know any better so I switched it to 230. When I hit the power button sparks shot out the back and now the power supply dosn't work. The computer still runs with the old supply, but somthing's broken in the new one.

My question is, was the power supply faulty because it blew when it was set to 230 but only recieving 115? Is there anything that can be done for the supply? Should I return it or just take my lesson and buy a new one?
