I have a dimension 8300 with a 2.8 ghz ht p4 and an optiplex gx280 with a 3.4 ghz ht p4. is it possible to swap the 2.8 with the 3.4? I don't care about putting anything in the gx280, but if I can get a faster processor in my 8300 it'd be nice. If this is possible, could anyone also link the best tutorial sites for such a thing? Thanks much.

If they are the same socket sure why not.
Should be fine :D

Fucking goddamn truth. Out of ~500 machines, we always get 5-10 A WEEK that won't boot after being shutdown for the weekend. That's ri-goddamn-diculous. It's the #1 reason I hate Mondays. To make it worse, I'm required to get replacements from Dell (obviously I keep ~20 spares on hand). Saging because I fucking hate Dell.

Actually, 5's experience is quite common. You obviously got lucky. Congrats.

We run over 200 Dells at work at not a single one has had a PSU failure in three years (except when some idiot changed the voltage switch on the back).
